Academic Advising

Academic advising at Panola College is designed to support student success by helping students explore career and academic goals, plan their academic pathway, and stay on track toward graduation or transfer. Academic advisors assist students with interpreting test scores, selecting a major, developing degree plans, choosing courses, and completing the registration process. Advisors also connect students with campus resources, support transfer planning to a four-year institution, and guide students through the graduation application process during their final semester.

Students should schedule an advising appointment each semester before registration by visiting www.panola.edu/advising, as academic advisors assist with course selection and registration. Meeting regularly with an academic advisor helps ensure students remain on track to complete their educational goals.

First-Time Students

Students registering for classes at Panola College for the first time must meet with an academic advisor in person at the Carthage, Marshall, or Center campus, or virtually via Google Meet, for their initial advising appointment.

Returning Students

Students who have met with a Panola College advisor within the past calendar year may choose to meet with their advisor in person at the Carthage, Marshall, or Center campus, virtually via Google Meet, or by phone.

Walk-In Advising

Students who are unable to schedule an appointment in advance may attend walk-in advising hours on Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., without an appointment.

Academic advisors are located on the second floor of the Matthews Student Center (MSC) on the Carthage campus. Advising services are also available on the Marshall and Center campuses.
